Skullcandy’s Return to Skate Shops

 

ACID SNOW CAMO

The Brief: Get Skullcandy back into boardshops and specialty retail to connect with core users again. After a long hiatus from specialty channels that had been left behind, we got the task to create seasonal collections that would be offered exclusively in select boardshops around the country and at Skullcandy.com.

The Answer: ACID SNOW CAMO, the first of regular drops that take a rotation of the most popular products with their own unique stories and executions.

The Process: Deep research into current trends among board sports Gen Z consumers working with partners like WGSN, creating stories and themes that hit with them and present them internally and to potential partners, create families of products and assets that create excitement, then let all that organically turn into Skullcandy’s new core stories going into the new year.

The work created for the collection turned into Skullcandy’s marketing story and activations to connect back to specialty retail leading. Creating products that our biggest fans could get at the places they love most, their local board shop.

 
 
 
 

Trend mapping mixed with a lot of Tik Tok searching led us to create a story that combined trends of camo variations, the 90’s trend of punk graphics with an “acid” effect that made it feel like the camo was melting: ACID SNOW CAMO.

Early Exploration went from bright fuschia colors to chrome metallic retro-futuristic finishes and ultimately our own take on camo.

 
 
 

Multiple color and vibe mood boards set the themes that would hit with an audience that cares more about individuality & style.

The family was made up of the Crusher ANC 2, Dime 3 and the Kilo speaker in a range of colors. From Meta Mauve to Hot Pink Fury to Dark Moss.

 

Acid Snow Camo turned into the core marketing story for the season and the Hero product family for the brand on its return to its roots.
